Making the decision to attend the Blogging While Brown conference this past June was probably one of the most impactful decisions that I have made since starting this blogging journey.  Even before the actual conference, I became a part of black community that consists of the some of the smartest,  innovative thinkers and influencers in social media.   I learned in that weekend, just about most of what I know about blogging to date.  A novice who was just working an idea, I was able to acquire key knowledge and resources needed apply structure to, and make best use of this platform.  I also met some great new blogging Boos too!!

One of the major events and highlights of the conference was the 10th annual  Black Weblog Awards……..who knew!  An award ceremony that celebrates the awesomeness of Black people in social influencing and technology.  All too often it remains the unfortunate reality that Black bloggers are overlooked by the mainstream social media for their excellence in the field.  Therefore; The Black Weblog awards, has become the premier event for Black bloggers for which I had the blessed opportunity to support the event as part of the Gala Advisory Committee.

Me, BK Kisha, local community blogger from obscurity, to being a peer, in the presence of such phenomenal change makers has been a blessing in itself.  Having a platform where I can effect change to build my community is simply God’s glory.
