Go back to our roots in order to move forward!

I am super excited for this years Kwanzaa season.  One of the best things about NYC this time of year is its rich culture and the number of Kwanzaa events that happen across the city.  As American people of African decent, it is extremely important for us to both honor those who have paved the way for us and teach our youth to celebrate the pride of a rich heritage.

For the first time, I will be co-hosting a Kwanzaa celebration of my own and I am looking forward to a rich experience for my entire family. We will also be participating in some of our favorite events while adding some new ones to the list.  Embracing the idea of Sankofa, it  teaches us that we must go back to our roots in order to move forward.

One of the highlights of this season is the Kwanzaa Celebration that will take place at the African Burial Ground that will mark the 10th Anniversary Observance of the Rites of Ancestral Return.  (Although the event is free, you must RSVP)

Here are some NYC Kwanzaa events, please share events that you may know of that are not listed here; Spread Love, It’s The BrooKlyn Kisha Way!
