Jay Z Makes His Barneys Decision

Now that the Brooklyn born rapper turned business mogul, Jay Z has decided to continue his plans to partner with Barneys, what does that mean to the black community? Some are infuriated while many respect his rationale for doing so.
In his statement he says ”“The easy position would have been to walk away and leave policymaking to others hoping that someone addresses the problem,” said Jay Z. “I will take this into my own hands with full power to recommend, review and revise policies and guidelines moving forward. I am choosing to take this head on.”
What are your thoughts? Do you think this decision will have its intended impact?

I totally agree with the first responder. I had great conversation with a male friend of mine and one of his reasons for saying Jay WILL NOT pull back on his deal with the store is b/c he is NOT the leader some expect him to be. And his that is money means a lot more to him. My response was this would have been the perfect opportunity for him to stand up for BROOKLYN, the Hip Hop Community and our Culture. He said it himself ” if you owe me $10, you’re NOT giving me nine (9)”. And the O’Jays said it better…….For the love of MONEY.

I think it’s probably a struggle for Jay Z to make decisions that maintain that fine line of doing what is profitable and then for the cause. He prides himself of being a person of integrity so I hope he is able to add value to the policies of Barneys. At the end of the day folks look at him as Robin Hood……
