You DON’T Have to Skip Church!
As we head into Palm Sunday which is part of the most holiest time of year, many churches will be packed in celebration of Holy Week activities leading to Resurrection Sunday (Easter) and the end of the lent season. Even for those that may not regularly attend, find their way to a church for these next two Sunday’s. Many of the church’s regular members may not be particularly happy about the longer lines and the possibility of having to give up their favorite seat to accommodate the large crowd.
I myself wasn’t necessarily raised in the church but growing up, my mother made sure that my brother and I attended on the important holidays. In retrospect, I know that it was during those times that seeds were planted and the fear of God instilled. Therefore; I always encourage people to “visit” and to not feel awkward or ashamed for choosing to come even if it’s just for that day. I’m always happy to see the annual church goers because even if it’s once, twice or just a few times a year, it is opportunity for God to work within them.
Parents of small children are also often apprehensive about going to church because they are concerned about how the little one(s) is going to behave and fear the embarrassing side eye. As a mom of three (ages: 18, 12 & 9), I know how real that anxiety can be as I started regularly attending church when youngest was just two years old. And though it was through trail and error, I not only survived, but was able to get church behavior management down to a science.
So for all of my parents with small children have no fear, the doors of the church are open! I’ve made a YouTube video just for you, providing some useful tips on how to not only find a church but how to manage your little ones behavior while you are there. So go ahead and put on your Sunday’s best; You Don’t Have to Skip Church!
